Nathanial Dacus was born in 1749 in Williamsburg, Virginia and died on 25 Mar 1835 in Greenville, South Carolina. He served as a Private in Captain Sylvanus Walker's Company, Colonel Nathaniel Cooke's Virginia Regiment

His second wife was Elizabeth Glenn, whom he married on 12 Oct 1789.

Name of Patriot: William Robards, Sr. NSSAR Patriot #P-279670

William Robards, Sr. was born about 1729 in Goochland County, Virginia. In 1764, he served as a militia lieutenant. He was in his seventies during the Revolutionary War and served in the Committee on Safety of Goochland County. He died in Goochland County in December 1783, having lived past the surrender at Yorktown but passing away before the signing of the Treaty of Paris that officially ended the war. The location of his gravesite is unknown.

Color Guard Medal Presented

Compatriot James L. Lockhart was presented the SAR Bronze Color Guard Medal at the March 2015 meeting of the Captain James Neal Chapter, WVSSAR. Color Guard Commander Don Brown presented Jim's medal noting that Jim had maintained a high level of activity in the color guard, had assisted in activiting the group, and had been instrumental in acquiring many of the flags used by the unit.

We congratulate Jim on this fine achievement.

Compatriot Bob Fish was elected Vice President General at this years National Congress. During his 1 year term, Bob will have responsibility for SAR activities in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Congratulations to Bob.

Also, at this years Annual Congress, two West Virginians, Finlay (Jack) Coles of Point Pleasant Chapter and Lance Carter of the Huntington chapter received the Minuteman Award. They were 2 of 6 to receive this award. Congratulations from the James Neal chapter.

The second annual Mid-Ohio Valley Genealogy Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Wood County Library. The Capt. James Neal Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host the event from 1:00-3:00 PM. This year’s guest speakers will be Bob Fish and Carey Clevenger.
